The Magic of Visual Effects
Hey guys,
Post-production here again and today we are talking Visual Effects. Visual Effects or VFX enhances what has been shot or creates what is not possible to shoot practically. A VFX shot can be something as simple as removing a palm tree from the background to something as complicated as creating a mushroom cloud. No, we did not actually detonate a nuclear bomb for the show. Last season we had VFX in every single episode which included adding abandoned airline jets in episode 3, an EMP explosion in episode 6, and creating the New Bern army camp in episode 21. Over the past 2 seasons we have used very talented artists at CBS Digital, Modern Video Film, and Zoic Studios for our VFX. Below is an example of a VFX shot, before and after, of the Hawkins family looking at the mushroom cloud from episode 12. As you can see, there is a huge difference from what was shot and what was aired. Look out for some huge VFX in this coming season. Stay tuned.
